Will people respect me?

They might, or they might not. It all depends how you go about your role. If you are harsh and overly rough with people then NO you will not get respect. If however you treat everybody fairly and are firm with a calm and respectful manner then they will respect you. Being a moderator is not about being all powerful and having access to exclusive commands. It’s about making sure that the server is running well and that people are having fun while following the rules.
